Join to apply for the Assistant Product Manager role at Downer Professional Services Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer , a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi‑disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security. As the Assistant Product Manager , you will support the delivery and sustainment of the Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS) capability under the SHFC Program, contributing to both operational and strategic product management. The position is based onsite at Campbell Park, Canberra. What You’ll Do Assist the Integrated Product Manager and Deputy Manager with budget, finance, and sustainment activities Support analysis and implementation of product management strategies to optimise Defence asset use Manage relationships with contractors to ensure timely communication on project requirements and risks Participate in acquisition program activities and working groups Provide feedback on deliverables and assist with transition tasks What You’ll Bring Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project planning tools Experience working in fast paced project environments with cross functional teams, ideally from within Defence industry. Knowledge of the One Defence Capability System (ODCS) and Defence policies Ability to lead, coach, and support teams through strategy and change initiatives Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
