About the Role We’re on the hunt for a passionate Demi Chef to join our culinary team at Yamagen, QT Gold Coast’s signature Japanese restaurant. You’ll work alongside Executive Chef Adam Lane, supporting daily kitchen operations and helping deliver exceptional food experiences. This is a full‑time opportunity for someone eager to grow in a high‑energy, fast‑paced hotel environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and present high‑quality dishes with precision and consistency Maintain impeccable hygiene and safety standards across the kitchen Minimise wastage and ensure efficient use of ingredients and resources Liaise daily with the Chef de Partie to align on priorities and service goals Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff Step up in the absence of the Chef de Partie and lead by example Support the team during busy service periods and special events Uphold all hotel policies, procedures, and WH&S guidelines Maintain a clean and organised work area throughout service Contribute to a positive and professional kitchen culture Skills & Experience Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery 2–3 years’ experience in high‑quality kitchens, ideally with Asian/Japanese cuisine Strong attention to detail and a passion for culinary excellence Solid understanding of food production, cost control, and kitchen operations Effective communication and teamwork skills Flexible, reliable, and motivated to succeed Commitment to maintaining high standards and continuous improvement Benefits & Perks Incredible team member discounts from your first day on‑the‑job. 50% off stays at EVT hotels – Rydges, QT, Atura, Lylo and more. $2 movie tickets, plus Moonlight, Gold Class, Candy Bar discounts and more.
