College Counsellor

College Counsellor Full Time Role (40 weeks term time) Situated in the Newcastle region, Belmont Christian College is a co-educational College of over 900 students that operates within a unique and spiritually nurturing environment that combines strong academic and wellbeing foundations with Christian values. The College Counsellor is a key member of the Student Support Team and provides individual counselling apart from assisting in the College’s (P-12) wellbeing support, initiatives and programs. The role provides clinical assessment, counselling and facilitates referrals with a range of external stakeholders to support students, their families and staff. The position is for 7.6 hours per day, 5 days per week, 40 weeks per annum with a 4 weeks annual leave . The successful applicant should have: • A degree in Psychology, Counselling, or Social Work (desirable)• Provisional or full registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) OR• Maintain registration and/or membership with at least one relevant professional association, such as ACA, APACS and APACS NSW or PACFA OR• Have an ACA Level 01 membership which requires completion of an ACA-accredited Diploma of Counselling or an equivalent qualification, along with CPD, clinical supervision and adherence to ethical standards.• Previous experience in school counselling (including writing and reporting)• Knowledge of and a deep commitment to child safety in an education setting.• Current Working with Children Check.• Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including teachers, staff, parents, and external agencies.• First Aid certificate.• Demonstrated substantial experience in the following:-Communication and interpersonal skills-Commitment to Child Safety-Confidentiality & Ethical Practice All staff are required to be Christians with Christian values, active in their local church and have a willingness to follow the College’s Codes of Conduct and child safe policies.
