Volunteer Social Companion - Cards and Cake Motor Neurone Disease Association of Queensland – Surfers Paradise QLD Overview Your volunteer time will be spent together engaging in friendly conversation and shared humour over a cuppa. Playing card games like Canasta, and offering support while the client completes light baking or food prep (no hands‑on cooking required). This is a chance to create meaningful connection, bring joy to someone's week, and be a kind, supportive presence. Responsibilities Support engagement in meaningful weekly routine with friendly conversation, shared humour, and casual catch‑ups over a cuppa Play Canasta or other simple card games the client enjoys Offer companionship and verbal support while the client completes light baking or food preparation (no hands‑on cooking required) Be a kind and helpful face to clients and carers You will not be Undertaking any personal care or manual handling activities About you Able and willing to commit to weekly social visits Must be available on Wednesdays and/or Fridays, 12pm – 3pm An empathetic, good‑humoured 40+ woman with some understanding of the effects of MND and FTD on social interactions, especially if the client experiences moments of confusion or fatigue Knowledge of card games (particularly Canasta) desirable A great listener and communicator with a friendly, down‑to‑earth attitude Passionate about helping others and making a difference Current holder of or willing to apply for NDIS WSC (Yellow card) Commitment & Details Category: Health Commitment: Regular – less than 6 months Type of work: Companionship & Social Support, Food Preparation & Service, Seniors & Aged Care Time required: Must be available on Wednesdays and/or Fridays, 12pm – 3pm How to apply Sign in to send your interest and details through the standard application process. #J-18808-Ljbffr
