This role will provide on-site/ on-call assistance to end-users within the organisation’s desktop computing environment in a timely and accurate fashion to ensure optimal service delivery. The GSW PSA Engineer – Network/Transmission is responsible for providing technical support, configuration, and maintenance of network and transmission systems across distributed sites. The role focuses on ensuring network stability, performance, and connectivity for mission-critical operations within enterprise and distribution environments. Key Responsibilities: Provide on-site and remote network support for routers, switches, firewalls, and transmission links. Perform installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure and transmission equipment. Monitor and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless connectivity across multiple sites. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve network outages and performance issues promptly. Conduct link testing, diagnostics, and validation for new and existing network circuits. Support network upgrades, migrations, and patching activities as per project timelines. Maintain documentation of configurations, diagrams, and procedures in accordance with organizational standards. Work closely with telecom providers and vendors to ensure stable and high-performing network links. Adhere to change management and ITIL processes for all network activities. Participate in incident response and provide Level 2/3 escalation support when required. Required Skills and Qualifications: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field . 3–5 years of hands-on experience in network and transmission engineering . Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, MPLS) . Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or Fortinet networking devices. Good knowledge of fiber optics, microwave, and leased line circuits . Proficiency in network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar. Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. Strong communication and coordination abilities with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with transmission systems (SDH, DWDM, Ethernet backhaul) . Experience working in telecom, utilities, or large enterprise network environments . Understanding of network security fundamentals and VPN technologies. What next?
