Cognito | Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Senior Public Relations Account Executive We are seeking an energetic communications professional with a keen interest in media relations and account management to participate in the growth of our local team in Australia. Cognito works with some of the world’s largest financial services, technology, and professional services brands and will consider those applicants who either have experience in these sectors or a strong interest in them, backed up by agency or client-side experience in media. You will be motivated by and enthusiastic about being a dynamic member of our Sydney operation, having the opportunity to help build the service offering of our local division of this progressive, global strategic communications agency. Being a part of a global firm means you’ll be liaising daily with our teams in APAC, and regularly with North America and Europe. What we’re seeking in a candidate: Strong media relations , project management and writing skills A quick study – the ability to research financial and technology concepts quickly and create communications opportunities from your training as a media professional Exceptional presentation skills – your ability to communicate projects in a clear and concise manner Be honest, authentic and transparent – our clients expect straightforward service and value our confidence to take on business only where we can meet and exceed expectations Local financial services and technology tier one and trade media contacts a plus Relevant tertiary education and 2 years+ agency/client experience Ability to assist in managing several key accounts and delegate/outsource components of your work to improve productivity Comfort with working under pressure and meeting deadlines Key responsibilities: Client Management: Serves as day-to-day client contact, participate in client meetings, and understand client business objectives. Campaign Execution: Assist in developing and implementing PR campaigns across various channels (media relations, social media, content, events), coordinate deliverables, track performance, and manage timelines/budgets. Media Relations: Develop journalist relationships, pitch to media, secure coverage, brief clients for interviews, and analyse media coverage. Content Creation: Draft press releases, thought leadership pieces, media pitches, and social media content. Research & Analysis: Monitor industry trends, analyse campaign performance, report results, and provide data-driven insights. Monitor potential PR issues and emerging crises across media channels. Team Support: Delegate tasks to junior team members, raise quality standards, and ensure timely completion of deliverables. Business Development: Support new business pitches, attend client meetings, and identify growth opportunities.
