Network Configuration & Optimization Engineer Aug 2, 2025 - Senior $65.00 Hourly Detailed Project Overview The Challenge We're Facing Our organization is experiencing recurring network performance issues that are impacting our daily operations. We are dealing with inconsistent speeds, high latency in critical applications, and a lack of clear documentation for our current network infrastructure. The existing router, switch, and firewall configurations are outdated, leading to potential security vulnerabilities and inefficiencies. We need a knowledgeable engineer to come in, assess the current setup, and implement a meticulous plan to optimize our network for reliability, performance, and security. We are seeking a proactive partner who can not only fix immediate issues but also lay the groundwork for a more stable and secure future. The Solution & Your Role We are looking for a skilled Network Engineer to join us for a focused, short-term project. Your primary goal will be to provide a complete overhaul of our network's core configurations. This is a hands‑on role where you will be responsible for reviewing our existing network topology, identifying key areas for improvement, and executing a precise configuration plan. We need someone who can go beyond simple fixes and strategically implement robust policies for routing, QoS, and VLAN management. The success of this project will be defined by a noticeable improvement in network stability and speed, accompanied by a reduction in security risks. A complete review and documentation of the existing network topology. Revised configuration files for all routers, switches, and firewalls. Implementation of a new VLAN structure and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP). Integration of QoS policies to prioritize critical traffic (e.g., VoIP). A final, detailed network diagram and comprehensive documentation package. A summary report of all changes made and the performance improvements achieved. Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate is a meticulous and experienced Network Engineer with a strong background in both configuration and troubleshooting. You should have a proven track record of working with devices from major vendors like Cisco, Juniper, and Fortinet. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a solid understanding of networking protocols and security best practices. While certifications like CCNA or CCNP are a plus, we value practical experience and the ability to solve real-world problems.
