Hydroinformatics Scientist - Water Quality (Full‑time, Permanent) Location: WaterNSW Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia About the Role Ready to make a splash in your career? WaterNSW is seeking an experienced Hydroinformatics Scientist – Water Quality to join our Land & Water Operations team. This key role supports a sustainable future for the state by delivering advanced water quality and catchment health solutions. Perks & Benefits Flexible working Work a 9‑day fortnight at full pay under the Enterprise Agreement Up to 16 weeks paid parental leave Fertility leave Corporate wear allowance Professional development and educational assistance Salary starting from $137,125 base + 12% super And so much more Responsibilities Problem‑solving: address complex catchment health and water quality issues using innovative data analytics and modelling tools. Analytics & integration: provide quality‑assured data, modelling tools and automated systems for evolving catchment management and water quality assessment needs. Model development: design, develop and implement contemporary hydroinformatics components, tools and products to enhance water science capability. Knowledge transfer: collaborate with external research partners, internal IT and subject‑matter experts to translate state‑of‑the‑art statistical models into user‑friendly outputs. Technical advice: provide expert guidance on data management, experimental design and statistical robustness; evaluate external contributions for alignment with WaterNSW policies. Qualifications & Experience Relevant tertiary qualifications in a STEM field (e.g., Science, Hydroinformatics, Engineering, Maths) or equivalent experience. Proven expertise in designing, developing, optimising and operationalising modelling and forecasting systems for water resources management. Experience analysing and visualising multi‑dimensional large datasets for scientific purposes. Strong software development skills in an agile scientific modelling environment, with proficiency in R and Python. Solid knowledge of robust environmental/water resources statistics and source water quality management principles. Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
