Through a therapeutic person-centred model DASA provides a range of programs and services including residential rehabilitation, sobering-up shelters, outreach services and alternative-to-custody programs. To learn more about our mission and services visit Step Into a Role That Drives Real Change We are seeking a People & Culture Manager to lead the people function across DASA. Based in Alice Springs, this full-time permanent role reports to the Deputy CEO, supervises the Corporate Services Officer and works closely with DASA’s executive team and service managers. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity not just to manage HR operations but to actively shape workplace culture, support capability growth and influence organisational strategy. You’ll provide hands‑on guidance to managers, embed fair and inclusive HR practices, strengthen our leadership development and ensure our people processes reflect both compliance and care. While HR systems and policy are part of the remit, this role is ultimately about leading with integrity, modelling professionalism and enabling others to thrive. Day-to-day you’ll be deeply embedded in DASA’s leadership rhythm – attending monthly executive meetings, participating in quality forums, joining the leadership lunch tradition and engaging in informal daily collaboration. You’ll also be involved in key recruitment, performance and training initiatives across all DASA programs and sites. The Right Fit Right Here We're looking for someone with solid HR capability and strong character – someone who understands the importance of structure but leads with empathy and professionalism. You will bring Qualification in Human Resources Business or a related field At least 3-5 years of experience in HR, ideally including exposure working with leadership A current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel to remote locations Confidence supporting managers and shaping culture across a diverse workforce Experience with employee relations, performance, policy and compliance Ability to lead one direct report while coaching others in HR best practice Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Familiarity with HRIS platforms Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and/or professional HR certification (desirable) And you will thrive in this role if you are Resilient with the ability to stay calm in complex or high-pressure situations Ethical and discreet with strong boundaries and a high level of professionalism Culturally intelligent, inclusive and committed to equity Collaborative, ready to be a true partner to leadership Practical and empathetic, balancing people care with organisational goals Down-to-earth with a sense of humour and a strong work ethic Settling In and Being Set Up for Success Your onboarding at DASA will be structured and fully supported with a focus on building strong relationships and understanding our culture from the inside out. In your first few weeks you will Complete a comprehensive online induction Visit each of DASA’s Alice Springs sites to connect with teams and observe operations firsthand Spend dedicated time with our Quality & Compliance Manager to understand our governance and systems Travel to Bundaberg to meet and learn from your direct report and gain working knowledge of HR systems including payroll Begin shadowing key leadership forums and informal daily conversations to quickly integrate into the team This is not a sink or swim environment; you will be supported from day one and your contributions will be welcomed immediately.
