Fabrication Design Engineer

In this position, you will be responsible for the design, development, and prototyping of metal fabrication components and assemblies for ARB’s premium 4x4 product range. You will work closely with the engineering, fabrication, and testing teams to deliver robust, manufacturable, and innovative solutions. This role requires a blend of strong CAD skills, practical mechanical aptitude, and hands‑on involvement during prototype fitment and validation. Key Responsibilities Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks . Develop fabrication‑focused component designs, including brackets, frames, and sheet‑metal assemblies. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including R&D, manufacturing, and testing—to ensure designs meet functional, quality, and cost requirements. Support hands‑on assembly and fitment of prototypes on test vehicles and rigs. Conduct design reviews, tolerance assessments, and manufacturability evaluations. Assist in troubleshooting design or fitment issues during prototype and pre‑production stages. Document design changes and maintain accurate revision control. Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, fabrication methods, and workflow processes. Use WRIKE project management software to track tasks, timelines, and documentation. Skills & Experience Required: 5–10 years’ experience in fabrication design or mechanical product development. Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling, drawings, assemblies, sheet metal). Strong understanding of metal fabrication techniques (laser cutting, folding, welding, jig design). Practical mechanical aptitude with the ability to physically fit, adjust, and evaluate prototypes. Strong communication and collaborative teamwork skills. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines. Experience using WRIKE or similar project/task management tools. Previous experience in automotive, 4x4 accessories, or off‑road product design. Familiarity with FEA, GD&T, or design validation/testing techniques.
