The Commissioning division oversees design, implementation, management and evaluation of funded service delivery for families, children, women, seniors and other vulnerable populations in Queensland. In partnership with regional offices, the Commissioning division stewards other government agencies, peak bodies and nongovernment organisations to deliver essential supports that aim to strengthen individual and community outcomes across Queensland. The Strategic Projects team in the Commissioning division delivers key pieces of work across the division, working to the Deputy Director-General and collaborating closely across the department. The Manager will lead and oversee the delivery of two high-profile, transformational projects within the commissioning space, each delivered by a dedicated team comprising a Principal Project Officer and a Senior Project Officer. In addition to ensuring the successful delivery of these core projects, the Manager will oversee the alignment and coherence of smaller projects and strategic initiatives, ensuring they collectively contribute to broader organisational and government priorities. The Manager will play a critical role in driving innovation, facilitating system design processes and championing positive disruption to improve commissioning practices and outcomes for vulnerable Queenslanders. They will ensure that all projects—core and smaller—are strategically connected, mutually reinforcing, and aligned with the organisation's vision for system change. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership, hands‑on delivery, and stakeholder engagement. The Manager will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships to ensure the success of the projects and broader organisational objectives. Adaptability, resilience, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential for success in this dynamic and impactful role. As The Manager, You Will Lead a program of work that involves multiple projects, analysis of complex programs and related issues, formulation and analysis of innovative options for solutions, including the development and procurement of new programs and services. Empower and mobilise the talents of a team of program officers through contemporary leadership practices. Liaise, negotiate and develop effective networks and innovative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders including government agencies and community organisations. Provide advice, analysis and direction on issues and trends relating to significant Departmental and Government policy and program initiatives and associated priorities to senior management and external stakeholders. Prepare and present a high volume of high-quality briefs, reports, correspondence, papers, and submissions on complex issues to senior executive and the Minister. Represent the department in negotiating and delivering solutions to emergent, competing and challenging issues. Establish and maintain review systems, mechanisms and reports to effectively monitor the progress and outcomes of programs and partnership activities.
