Primary objective Under the direction of the leadership team, be responsible for the coordination and delivery of case management services to eligible young people. Provide professional, effective, legislatively compliant and culturally appropriate support and supervision to young people in the care of the CEO and work towards reducing their involvement with the Youth Justice System. Key duties and responsibilities Work collaboratively within a team environment to deliver evidence-based and culturally appropriate, statutory case management services to vulnerable children in the care of the CEO, in accordance with the Care and Protection of Children and Youth Justice Acts. Develop, maintain and influence collaborative working relationships with relevant government agencies, non-government entities, private sector providers and other work units within Department of Children and Families to provide targeted support to young people who fall within the Crossover cohort. Undertake comprehensive needs assessments to identify case plan objectives and strategies to address safety concerns and criminogenic needs for the Crossover cohort. Prepare relevant documentation such as case reports, court reports and affidavits. Gather and input client information into agency case management systems, ensuring data is timely and accurate to enable informed decision‑making and on‑going assessments and reviews. Contribute to the professional development and learning needs of less experienced colleagues, including mentoring of peers and training of work experience students. Participate in the Department’s After‑Hours Service and assist in delivering the Department’s statutory welfare group responses in accordance with the Emergency Management Act. Selection criteria Essential A degree from an Australian tertiary institution, which gives eligibility for membership of the Australian Community Workers Association, the Australian Association of Social Workers, or the Australian Psychological Society, or equivalent; or Diploma of Child, Youth and Family Intervention and Vocational Graduate Certificate in Community Services Practice (Statutory Child Protection) or Graduate Certificate in Safe Communities (Child Protection). Demonstrated working knowledge of concepts related to health and well‑being that underpin contemporary practice, including the principles and functions of supervision in statutory and non‑statutory child protection and youth justice case management. Demonstrated developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence decision‑making, negotiate solutions to complex issues and provide appropriate, meaningful and accurate information for a wide variety of audiences. Ability to quickly acquire and apply an understanding of NT Government priorities and Department of Children and Families strategies, relevant legislation and policies that guide the delivery of child protection and youth justice services. Knowledge of local and national trends, reforms and developments as applicable to child protection and youth justice services. Demonstrated skills in the use of computers and an ability and willingness to undertake training. Preparedness to travel in 4WD vehicles and light planes as required and ability to undertake travel including overnight stays as necessary. Current Northern Territory open driver licence or the ability to obtain before or upon commencement. Desirable At least three (3) years working in the human services sector conducting strength‑based assessments, developing and delivering effective interventions and applying best practice principles, with at least twelve (12) months working with vulnerable children. Understanding of mentoring and coaching principles and concepts to ably support the development of others.
