Sheet Society was dreamed up by Hayley and Andy Worley when they realised the industry had hit snooze. With the arrival of kids, they developed a new understanding of what makes for a great night’s sleep. We are launching our second interstate store in Burnside and are looking for a talented Assistant Store Manager to join our retail team from early‑mid September. You possess strong commercial acumen and know how to maximise every inch of the store to showcase our products in the best possible way, using data to ensure best sellers are perfectly positioned and KPIs are driven. About the Role This is a full‑time role on a Sunday to Thursday roster. The Assistant Store Manager will work closely alongside the Store Manager to deliver a phenomenal in‑store retail experience for our customers. It’s not a typical retail role – it’s an opportunity to bring Sheet Society to life and help shape how we approach retail in the real world. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management Support Lead by example in all that you do, living and breathing Sheet Society’s values. Grow and nurture a talented team of dreamers, fostering their capabilities and leaning into opportunities for further development. Support the Store Manager with managing monthly rosters, ensuring wage budgets are met, weekly approvals, and staff leave requests. Support onboarding and training of the store team as needed, providing a stunning brand experience at every step. Ensure all store communication, brand information, and policy or process updates are communicated and understood by the whole team. Style, Selling & Service Sell Sheet Society through engagement and genuine connections with customers, always being a brand ambassador. Educate customers about our brand, offering expert styling advice and enlightening them about our features and benefits that set us apart. Manage inbound customer calls and queries, set team expectations, and work with the wider Sheet Society team to continually improve service and customer experience by providing weekly feedback on products and sales, including specific product selling performance. Assist customers no matter their reason for visiting, providing a cohesive brand experience and level of service that is second to none. Ensure financial budgets and KPIs are shared, reported, and driven with the team. Ensure sales and store goals are met by maximising sales and gross profit, reviewing sales performance, and managing inventory to ensure total accuracy. Provide employee feedback to enhance the customer service experience and report and manage individual team performance; hold performance conversations as necessary. Support the rollout of visual merchandising change‑over, either seasonally or with new product drops, working with Product and Marketing teams and handling monthly bed changeovers. Coordinate store replenishment and recalls with WH and Operations teams. Ensure the store floor is refilled and visibly representable each day, meeting visual merchandising standards and guiding the casual team. Ensure brand standards for visual merchandising, beds, cleanliness, signage, displays, etc., are upheld. Operations Work closely with Warehouse and Operations Support teams. Support Customer Service with customer‑facing issues and resolve in‑store where possible. Ensure all operational daily tasks are completed, including but not limited to managing and coordinating back‑of‑house inbound replenishment, weekly stock cycle counting and recalls, and ensuring click‑and‑collect orders operate smoothly. Communication Ensure all store communication via Slack or other brand channels, including brand information, updates, and policy or process updates, are followed. Support Customer Service on customer‑facing issues and resolve in‑store where possible. Ensure all operational daily tasks are completed as instructed by your manager for the day. Share any key store information or notes with the wider team. Work on tasks that may arise after ordinary business hours on a case‑by‑case basis with the manager. The role may evolve; additional responsibilities or duties may be included within the scope to meet business needs. Skills & Attributes Required Minimum of 2 years experience within the retail environment, in a position where you have demonstrated leadership, autonomy, and accountability. Passionate about sleep, interiors, design, and a love for styling. Sound knowledge of retail operations and customer experience. Excellent communication skills and the capability to work closely with all departments. A passion to help customers build meaningful moments and their dream bed in our showroom. Self‑motivated team player who loves to see everyone succeed and have fun. Inventory management experience and a drive to look for efficiencies.
