Senior Financial Counsellor (CSQ033) Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand Job Summary Full‑time Senior Financial Counsellor role based at our Brisbane office, 5 days per week. Salary packaging Gifted leave at Christmas and Easter Paid parental leave About The Role The role of Senior Financial Counsellor is to facilitate the delivery of service excellence by supporting a group of financial counsellors within the program. You will provide supervision, mentoring, and coaching, ensuring best practice is followed and a high standard of compliance is met. As part of this role, you will hold a proportional caseload of clients, conducting in‑depth phone and/or face‑to‑face assessments, short and/or long‑term case work, advocacy, and the identification of options to address financial concerns. You’ll work alongside the program coordinators, leaders, and management team to support service delivery. Periodic attendance at broader agency functions and events may be required. Key Responsibilities Provide supervisory support using reflective practice, mentoring and coaching for financial counsellors working across multiple programs and modalities. Provide mentoring to ensure that financial counsellors provide client support across the continuum of service accountabilities. Conduct case and file reviews to ensure best practice and a high standard of compliance in recording session notes, data, and interventions with clients. Deliver coaching via individual and group work, facilitating a community of practice to encourage clients’ fullest participation and empowerment in planning, goal setting, and decision‑making. Work closely with program coordinators, leaders and management to ensure that financial counsellors are delivering professional services and support performance development of the team. Manage a proportional caseload of clients together with community development activities, including periodic representation at community partner, stakeholder and sector events. About You Demonstrated experience in mentoring and providing supervisory support to financial counsellor team members. Hold a Financial Counselling qualification; Diploma in Financial Counselling or equivalent. Hold registration with the FCQ or other relevant state body. Passionate about the community sector and initiatives that assist vulnerable communities. Demonstrated understanding of a trauma‑informed approach, including risk assessment and response to family violence and economic abuse, and principles of social justice.
