Airport Maintenance Officer - Residential Port Hedland Role Port Hedland International Airport – Port Hedland WA PHIA is the only International Airport in the Pilbara serving more than 500,000 passengers per year and a direct link to the world's largest iron ore export port and proximity to major oil and gas fields. PHIA is home to domestic and international freight with oversize aircraft capability (Antonov-124), Australian Border Force and Biosecurity operations, refuelling, aviation firefighting, transient worker accommodation, a bulk transport precinct, Port Hedland School of the Air and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. This residential-based position plays a key role in ensuring Port Hedland International Airport (PHIA) provides a safe, secure, and well-maintained operating environment for all airport users. The role is responsible for the day to day upkeep and maintenance of airport infrastructure, including terminal facilities, car park systems, security infrastructure, and baggage handling systems. The position also includes front-of-house responsibilities, requiring a strong focus on customer service and positive engagement with passengers, stakeholders, and service providers. Working across both landside and airside environments, the successful candidate will be exposed to a broad range of airport operations within a regional airport setting. This role requires a proactive, safety-focused individual who can work independently, respond effectively to maintenance and operational issues, and always contribute to the smooth and safe operation of the airport. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS (SELECTION CRITERIA) Demonstrated experience undertaking routine maintenance, minor repairs, and fault finding across buildings, infrastructure, or facilities. Proven ability to work safely, identify hazards, follow procedures, and contribute to a safe working environment. Proven initiative and reliability, with the ability to manage tasks autonomously while also contributing effectively within a team environment. Well organised with the ability to multi-task, plan-ahead and prioritise. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. Self-motivation and driven to set goals. Hold and maintain a current valid Driver's Licence for the vehicle(s) used at PHIA. Be willing to undergo pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening. Must be able to undertake and pass random drug and alcohol testing. Ability to obtain and retain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC). DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS (SELECTION CRITERIA) Trade experience preferable - e.g. Plumber / Carpenter. Skid Steer (Bob Cat) Licence. Forklift Licence (LF). Working at heights.
