As the Nurse Unit Manager – Perioperative , you will work in close partnership with the Anaesthetics and PACU Nurse Unit Manager to lead perioperative services across Royal Darwin and Palmerston Regional Hospitals. You’ll be accountable for delivering safe, high-quality patient care and for the effective management of human, financial, and material resources within a complex, multidisciplinary environment. You will drive service excellence and sustainable change, ensuring clinical practice aligns with national standards and organisational priorities and foster a positive and high-performing workplace culture that achieves outstanding outcomes for patients and staff. The Hospitals Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) is a 370-bed, level six tertiary teaching hospital located in the northern suburbs of Darwin. It serves as the principal referral centre for the Top End of the Northern Territory, providing a wide range of acute and specialist medical services to urban, regional, and remote communities. RDH is affiliated with Flinders University, Charles Darwin University, the Menzies School of Health Research, and the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre. The hospital has nine operating theatres. Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 116-bed facility located 20 kilometres south of Darwin. Operating as an extension of RDH, PRH provides sub-acute and surgical services with four operating theatres. Together, RDH and PRH perform over 20,000 complex procedures each year, delivering high-quality surgical care across one of Australia’s most diverse and challenging healthcare environments. About you To be successful you will have: Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same. Proven high-level leadership and management skills, including strategic thinking, change management, and fostering a positive team culture with a multidisciplinary environment. Ability to analyse service performance and implement evidence-based initiatives to improve outcomes, efficiency, and staff practices. Strong communication skills to build relationships, manage conflict, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Demonstrated understanding of social and cultural factors influencing healthcare delivery for diverse communities. Ongoing appointment is subject to attainment of Graduate Diploma, or equivalent, beyond entry-to-practice in Perioperative Nursing or related area.
