The Assistant Principal, Learning and Support will work collaboratively with schools across the Parramatta Principal Network to support students with disability and additional learning and support needs and their teachers. The work emphasises individual school and departmental priorities and evidence-based programs to support students with additional needs. The role also provides professional support for learning and support teachers through professional learning activities, network meetings and individual advice. The Assistant Principal works collaboratively as part of the Team Around a School. Specific Selection Criteria Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (primary and/or secondary) and/or experience teaching such students. Expert knowledge of disability discrimination legislation and demonstrated expertise to provide high-impact professional learning to support inclusive practice for students with disability. Proven ability to promote and support the development of effective and collaborative learning and support teams within schools. Ability to work collaboratively with the Team Around a School to provide specialist advice and enhance inclusive practices for students with complex behaviour and learning needs. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs. Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
