Position Details Title: Public Transport Analyst Location: Melbourne – CBD Work Type: Ongoing Full Time Requisition ID: **** Date Posted: 23 Dec **** About The Role The purpose of this role is to provide a solid evidence base to support the development of new public transport service plans. This involves transforming, analysing and presenting performance, reliability and patronage data for the public transport network, along with demographic and other relevant spatial analysis. This will likely include the development of data transformation flows, dashboards, and geospatial project templates and tools. The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the division. Senior colleagues and the team leader will support the development of skills and knowledge in the role. Position Outcomes / Accountabilities Develop, support and upgrade data visualisation tools/dashboards that provide relevant and insightful information around passenger movements, service levels and operational metrics to help bus planners design and cost service changes. Refresh and upgrade tailored spatial data layers relevant to bus planners. Assist in the preparation of business cases with catchment area metrics for current and proposed service networks. Collaborate with other teams to analyse and identify opportunities to improve data quality. Respond to ad hoc requests for data analytics. Key Selection Criteria The DTP is seeking a collaborative and adaptable professional with strong foundational skills in critical thinking, data literacy and clear communication, able to interpret information, derive insights and present content for diverse audiences. The role requires resilience, a willingness to learn and the ability to work effectively in a team environment while contributing ideas and supporting shared goals. A foundational understanding of integrated transport planning and how Victorian transport networks operate to deliver strong customer and network efficiency outcomes is required. Qualifications And Experience Mandatory A relevant tertiary qualification or experience in Transport Planning, Data/Computer Science/Analytics/Engineering, or another field relevant to this role. Desirable Knowledge of the Victorian public transport system Expertise in the use of GIS software, ideally ARCGIS and/or QGIS Skills in data analytics platforms such as Tableau, PowerBI and/or Databricks Experience with programming and querying languages such as SQL, R and/or Python Experience with public transport network planning software such as HASTUS, Austrics, Optibus and/or Remix Culture Value We welcome applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds representing the community that we serve, including veterans, parents, carers, First Peoples, people with disability, multicultural, multifaith and LGBTIQA+ individuals.
