Clinical Director of Medicine Regional Queensland | Permanent Full-Time | Senior Leadership Role A major regional hospital in Queensland is seeking an experienced and visionary physician to step into the role of Clinical Director of Medicine. This is a key executive leadership position ideal for a senior clinician who is passionate about service development, clinical governance, and delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. This is your opportunity to lead a busy and growing Department of Medicine within a supportive health service that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence in regional healthcare. The Opportunity As Clinical Director, you will provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across the Department of Medicine. You will oversee service planning, performance, safety, workforce development, and clinical governance activities while working closely with the broader Medical and Critical Care leadership teams. This role offers a blend of senior management responsibilities and ongoing clinical practice, allowing you to remain engaged in the care of patients while shaping the future of medical services for the region. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the Department of Medicine, including strategic planning and service development Support new models of care to improve access, efficiency, and patient outcomes Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, consumer-focused medical services Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, performance development and supervision Collaborate with Executive, Critical Care, and senior clinicians across the health service Drive quality, safety, risk management and accreditation activities Contribute to clinical governance systems and continuous improvement initiatives Maintain an active clinical workload within your specialty About You Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent AHPRA specialist registration (or eligibility to obtain) Proven leadership capability at a senior level within a hospital setting Strong understanding of clinical governance, safety systems, and service delivery Experience leading multidisciplinary teams Commitment to developing junior doctors and fostering a positive learning culture Passion for improving regional healthcare and patient experience About the Region The hospital is located in a thriving regional centre known for: A warm, welcoming community Stunning Queensland coastline, islands, waterways, and national parks Affordable housing and an excellent lifestyle for families and professionals Great schools, modern amenities, and strong community networks A relaxed lifestyle while still enjoying strong transport links to major cities Remuneration & Benefits Generous senior medical officer package including: Total remuneration up to $517,000–$562,000 p.a.
