Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants must demonstrate Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status in addition to addressing the selection criteria. About the Role Providing flexible, holistic, culturally acceptable and accessible community maternity care to Aboriginal women and the partners of Aboriginal men and their families in equal partnership with the Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service (AMIHS) Midwife to achieve better health outcomes and better access to health services for Aboriginal people. Working collaboratively in consultation with the local Aboriginal community; local Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services; Medical, Obstetric and Paediatric practitioners; Hospital Midwives; Aboriginal Health workers; Child and Family Health Nurses; and the Sustaining NSW Families service to ensure a comprehensive service delivery model to Aboriginal women. Partnering with the AMIHS midwife to ensure that the local AMIHS works with community development processes to contribute to removing the barriers that prevent Aboriginal people from participating in the issues that affect their lives, especially as it relates to their maternity care and the health care they and their families receive.
