About The Role This role is for a casual Newborn Hearing Screener with the Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program (VIHSP). The successful candidate will conduct newborn hearing screening in Heidelberg, Box Hill and Epping in accordance with VIHSP protocols and procedures. Classification: AO21 Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021 - 2025. What You’ll Achieve Contribute to early detection of newborn hearing loss, ensuring infants receive timely diagnosis and intervention. Provide family‑centred, compassionate and clear communication with parents about the screening process. Assist in smooth operation of administrative duties to support efficient service delivery. Uphold high VIHSP standards, maintaining accurate records and assisting in quality assurance activities. Work effectively with the VIHSP team and hospital staff to support newborn hearing care. Your Skills And Experience Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with families, stakeholders and team members. Proficient in data entry and general administrative tasks. Experience or ability to work in a hospital environment. Experience or comfort working with newborns. Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast‑paced environment. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail. Other Requirements Flexibility to work at multiple hospital sites in the region. Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development. Commitment to adhering to procedures and ensuring safety and accuracy in hearing screening. Current National Criminal Record Check, or willingness to obtain. Valid Working with Children Check. A current Victorian Driver’s Licence (essential for travel between maternity hospitals). Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation – Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure. Full vaccination against COVID‑19 and influenza annually for Category A and B roles, in compliance with public health orders, unless medically exempt. Provide Australian Government Immunisation History Statement as required.
