About Megaport We’re not your typical tech company – and we don't want to be. Megaport is the global leader in Network as a Service (NaaS), and has transformed the way businesses connect to the cloud, data centers, and each other. We’re publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and partnered with the biggest names in tech like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, IBM, and more. Headquartered in Brisbane with a crew of over 350 people spread across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, our employees enjoy an environment that is collaborative, supportive, and (actually) fun. Our Team Culture We’re a team of problem solvers, pixel pushers, code slingers, and cloud fanatics. Culture is more than a poster on the wall here – collaboration beats hierarchy, curiosity fuels our growth, and everyone’s voice matters. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We work across time zones to execute on our global vision, trust each other to get things done, and never compromise our values for commercial gain. Most importantly, we place our customers at the center of everything we do. What You'll Be Doing Interim Leadership Responsibilities (through Head of Tax’s parental leave) Act as Head of Tax, leading the day‑to‑day function. Directly manage two key team members (and coordinate advisors). Represent Tax in senior Finance leadership forums, ensuring effective communication with CFO, external auditors, advisors and the broader team. Drive ongoing projects and continuous‑improvement initiatives already in flight (transfer‑pricing reviews, indirect‑tax automation, global compliance). Global Tax Compliance & Governance Support management and expansion of Transfer Pricing ('TP') compliance and ensure inter‑company arrangements are executed and documented in line with TP Agreements. Timely filing of tax returns and other compliance requirements in jurisdictions. Responsible for end‑to‑end global tax compliance (returns, disclosures, tax‑effect accounting, indirect tax, audits, etc.). Accurate and complete documentation of all key processes, procedures, and risks, particularly for core jurisdictions (Australia, USA, Ireland, UK, others). Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure returns, financial statement disclosures and supporting documentation are accurate and delivered on time. Ensure prompt and accurate calculation and payment of advance taxes in relevant regions. Strategic Leadership & Planning Drive technical tax planning to optimise the Group’s global tax position. Provide insights and recommendations to improve tax efficiency and support global growth initiatives. Monitor ROI on external tax advisers in each jurisdiction, adjusting approach as needed. Controls, Processes & Technology Develop and improve effective processes and controls, focusing on automation, completeness, and accuracy. Accurate tax disclosures in financial statements, coordinating with external advisors and auditors to meet reporting deadlines. Ensure indirect tax compliance is well managed, and identify and implement appropriate software tools. Be an open and collaborative partner within Finance, working closely with the broader finance team to resolve issues and build on a strong tax foundation. Maintain strong working relationships with Finance, Accounting, and other teams across the USA, Australia, and globally. Communicate effectively across functions and geographies to ensure tax risks and opportunities are clearly identified, managed, and reported. What We're Looking For CA or CPA qualified tax professional, ideally with at least 6 years’ corporate tax experience, including international exposure. Experience gained in either Big 4 and in‑house multinational environments is preferred. Solid technical knowledge of Australia and international tax law and regulations. Excellent ability to communicate, organise, plan and prioritise tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, including documenting or recording all processes. Solid IFRS Financial Accounting knowledge in respect of tax accounting. Knowledge of key taxation principles: Global Effective Tax Rates, Transfer Pricing, Permanent Establishment, withholding taxes, taxation on stock‑based compensation, and deferred taxes. Ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to complex issues. Ability to work with the finance senior leadership team, perform several tasks concurrently and meet deadlines. Nice to have, but not essential traits and experience: Management of global tax reporting systems for either CIT or indirect taxes. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics D365 or other large ERP systems. What We Offer Flexible working environment – a remote‑first culture with coworking options available. Generous leave plans – including parental leave, birthday leave, and a purchased annual leave program. Health and wellness support – through a wellness allowance and employee wellbeing initiatives. Comprehensive learning support – generous study and training allowance plus paid study leave. Creative, modern workspaces – designed to inspire when you’re not working remotely, plus access to coworking spaces via our global WeWork membership if you work remotely, but like to get out of the house sometimes. Motivated, inclusive team – work alongside industry experts and fresh talent. Recognition programs – celebrate achievements with our Legend and Kudos award. All applications will be treated in confidence. Recruitment Notice Strictly no Recruitment Agencies. #J-18808-Ljbffr
