Rydges World Square Sydney is seeking a Hotel Accountant. This role would suit an experienced person who is already in the Hospitality Industry. The candidate will require a minimum tertiary qualification of a Bachelor of Finance or Accounting. Key Responsibilities Provide monthly financial statements for presentation to the Hotel Management and Owners. Meet with Departmental Managers each month to review Departmental Profit & Loss statements and review of all department expenses for the month. Provide financial and commercial support to Financial Controller, General Manager, Department Managers, and Owners. Formulate and take control of the Annual Budget Process (Revenue, Manning Guides & Expenses). Deliver break-even analysis for proposed business activities, in collaboration with senior Departmental Managers. Maintain and enforce internal control systems and ensure compliance with financial policies. Review the Hotel operating costs to provide measures to reduce costs to meet KPI cost targets. Lead financial planning and analysis activities including weekly, monthly and quarterly forecasting and cashflow reporting. Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly operational reporting such as revenue tracking, payroll, and food & beverage cost of sales analysis. Prepare the monthly Business Activity Statement (BAS). Manage weekly employee payroll processing and ensure compliance with award provisions, knowledge on employee visa restrictions, and tax legislation. Prepare and approve Employee Contracts and Employee on-boarding. Oversee and assist with the purchasing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes. Coach and develop finance and business support staff while promoting a disciplined cost-control environment across the hotel. Skills & Experience SUN Systems accounting (Minimum intermediate level proficiency ) or similar experience including advanced Q&A reporting is required. Opera Cloud or Opera V5 Property Management System (PMS) experience or similar including Accounts Receivable module. Microsoft Excel at Advanced level. Proven experience in large hotel finance operations is highly desirable, with a strong understanding of operational and commercial financial management. Candidates must have 1-2 years of hotel finance experience to be considered for this position. Skilled in providing strategic financial advice, including break-even analysis and business case support. Strong knowledge of internal control daily and monthly workflows using Tyalls Hotel Audit Program. Proficient in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and developing action plans to improve financial performance. Advanced reporting capabilities, including daily revenue tracking, payroll reporting, and food & beverage cost analysis. Experience managing payroll processes and ensuring compliance with relevant awards, visa regulations, and tax legislation. Demonstrated ability to implement and manage purchasing, credit, and accounts payable procedures with transparency and efficiency. Effective leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to develop finance and business support teams across multiple properties. Australian work authorisation is required for this position.
