2 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Ason Group is seeking a motivated and capable Junior Transport Engineer / Planner to join our Transport Advisory team. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an early‑career professional to contribute to high‑impact transport planning and assessment projects across Australia, with a focus on strategic‑level projects such as structure planning, precinct planning, and rezonings. You will work closely with a Senior Transport Planner and report directly to the Team Leader – Transport Advisory, supporting the delivery of high‑quality transport assessments, data analysis, and technical reporting. Key Responsibilities Assist in preparing transport assessments and impact studies for strategic and statutory planning projects. Support the preparation of technical reports , presentations , and mapping outputs that clearly communicate transport and land use interactions. Undertake data analysis and interpretation, including working with large transport and land use datasets. Prepare and maintain spatial data and perform mapping and analysis using QGIS (or equivalent GIS platforms). Assist in the development of transport modelling inputs , multi‑modal demand generation assessments, and accessibility analyses. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather and verify information for project deliverables. Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical tools, templates, and processes used within the Transport Advisory team. Skills and Attributes Strong initiative , self‑motivation, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills , with an ability to present complex findings clearly and succinctly. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills , with attention to detail and accuracy. Other Desirable Skills Competence with Microsoft Excel , QGIS , and data visualisation tools; exposure to Python , R , or Power BI . Good understanding of transport planning principles and their relationship to urban planning and land use. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a professional services environment. Qualifications and Experience A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering , Transport Planning , Urban Planning , Geography , or a related discipline. 1–2 years’ experience in transport planning, traffic engineering, or a related field (desirable but not essential). Familiarity with Australian transport and planning policy frameworks (state or local level) will be viewed favourably.
