Position Purpose As a Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner , you will provide high-quality, person-centred positive behaviour support (PBS) services in accordance with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission’s PBS Capability Framework. You will conduct assessments, develop and review Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), coach stakeholders in implementing proactive strategies, and ensure compliance with NDIS practice standards. You will also provide supervision and mentoring to Core-level Behaviour Support Practitioners , supporting their professional development, and demonstrate leadership qualities that align with future Team Leader or Senior Practitioner opportunities. Key Responsibilities Clinical Service Delivery Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs) and other relevant assessments. Develop high-quality Interim and Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans. Implement evidence-based, person-centred interventions that promote positive behaviour change and reduce restrictive practices. Collaborate with participants, families, and multi-disciplinary teams to support the achievement of participant goals. Collect, analyse, and interpret behavioural data to inform interventions and measure outcomes. Deliver capacity building and training to cars, support workers, and stakeholders on plan implementation. Supervision & Team Development Provide supervision, mentoring, and guidance to Core-level Behaviour Support Practitioners and new graduates. Support the development of team skills in functional assessment, plan writing, and ethical decision-making. Review documentation and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality and compliance. Assist in fostering a collaborative, reflective, and learning-focused team culture. Demonstrate leadership attributes and initiative aligned with Team Leader potential , supporting the ongoing development of service excellence. Compliance & Quality Ensure all plans, reports, and documentation meet NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission standards. Support the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices, ensuring human-rights-based approaches. Maintain accurate progress notes, data records, and reports within expected timeframes. Uphold ethical, professional, and evidence-based standards in all practice. Stakeholder Engagement Liaise with families, schools, support coordinators, allied health professionals, and other service providers. Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings. Communicate effectively and respectfully with all stakeholders to ensure consistent implementation of strategies. Professional Growth & Contribution Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development. Contribute to continuous improvement projects and service development initiatives. Promote the organisation’s values, culture, and commitment to best-practice behaviour support. Essential Criteria Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, or a related discipline. Recognised by the NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission as a Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner (or working towards). Minimum 2–3 years of experience providing PBS services in an NDIS or disability context. Demonstrated ability to supervise and support Core-level Behaviour Support Practitioners . Proven record of leadership capability and interest in progressing to Team Leader or Senior Practitioner roles. Strong assessment, data analysis, and plan writing skills. Exceptional communication and stakeholder collaboration skills. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work autonomously. Current driver’s licence, NDIS Worker Screening Check, Police Check, and Working With Children Check (or equivalent). Desirable Criteria Experience with restrictive practice authorisation and reporting processes. Prior experience in a mentoring or leadership capacity within a clinical team. Familiarity with multidisciplinary or trauma-informed practice frameworks.
