Job Summary We are looking for a Theatre Practitioner to come and work in South Theatres and the Surgical Hub. If you are interested in a new challenge or change then this might be the role for you. This post is integral to the effectiveness of South Theatres new surgical hub and provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled individual to play a fundamental role in the development of Elective and Emergency surgery at the Ipswich Hospital. We offer many development opportunities for further education. We offer degree/master models that support your development within the theatre environment and help you grow as a theatre practitioner. South Theatres new surgical hub provides both Elective and Emergency surgery. The department provides 24‑hour cover for Emergency Surgery and has 8 operating theatres, which consists of a dedicated Emergency and urgent surgery Theatre, and 6 Elective Theatres. The role will provide potential for internal rotation with the opportunity of working in Theatres; carry the emergency anaesthetic Bleep, and POCU. This post is available to AHPs, ODPs and Registered Nurses with exceptional theatre/scrub experience. The role will be working in both the new and existing theatres, for Ipswich hospital. This is an exciting opportunity with the newest innovation at the Trust being the introduction of robotic surgery using the Da Vinci Robot. Main Duties of the Job The department covers a range of specialties ranging from General surgery, Colo‑rectal, Urology, ENT, Oral, Plastic, Breast and Vascular, Robotic and laparoscopic surgery. Person Specification Essential Experience: Has experience of working within a team; Evidence of Exposure to or understanding Relevant Clinical Experience; Significant recent relevant hospital experience. Qualifications: Registered Nurse/ODP; To undertake Anaesthetic practice be able to evidence achievement of recognised national standards; Evidence of continued professional Development Plans. Knowledge: Understands the clinical role of a Nurse/ODP within the Perioperative team. Desirable Previous relevant perioperative experience; Scrub; Anesthetics. Dip HE (or working towards). Has evidence of professional portfolio development. Previous experience of working within an emergency department.
