A St Mary MacKillop College teacher encourages each student to discover and develop their interests and talents in order to become the best they can be. Providing innovative and best practice teaching, students will grow and develop lifelong learning attributes. The Head of Year focuses on the pastoral care, wellbeing and engagement of a year group. This role requires close collaboration with teachers, parents and college leadership to ensure that students feel connected, supported and encouraged as they transition through important developmental years. Reporting to the Head of Middle School or Head of Senior School, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Educator with a strong pastoral care focus to take responsibility for and lead a year group. Our Heads of Year move with their year group from Year 8 through to Year 12. We are seeking someone that : Has a willingness to promote and support Catholic values as a member of the St Mary MacKillop College community. Holds current Teachers Registration, Working with Children Check and NCCPC. Wholeheartedly embraces the culture and the vision of the College. Is skilled in pastoral care and behaviour management, with a relational approach to working with young adolescents. Will foster a sense of belonging, resilience and responsibility with the year group. Will lead year level assemblies, activities and events that celebrate student success and community spirit. Has a positive, compassionate nature with highly effective written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills, and will communicate regularly with parents to strengthen the partnership between school and home. Will collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and intervene where additional support is needed. Possesses excellent leadership and organisational skills, coupled with previous experience in a leadership position is highly desirable.
