Photographer & Content Producer

Join to apply for the Photographer & Content Producer role at Dock & Bay - Certified B Corp™️ We offer hybrid remote working from home (no office required just good vibes and strong WiFi), plus flexible hours to fit around life, weekly evening calls with our UK team, and regular in-person shoot days on the sunny Central Coast. While all desk-based work can be done from home, the role involves regular on-location and studio shoot days, so we’re seeking a candidate located on the Central Coast who can confidently support in-person production days. Our founders, Ben (Australia) and Andy (UK), started Dock & Bay back in 2015, after sharing the same struggle of standard towels being too bulky for their backpacks while travelling. It’s a hard knock life, eh? Following some intense brainstorming - that means pulling down a big red curtain and sticking pieces of white paper to it to create our now iconic stripes - D&B’s quick-dry, 100% recycled wonders were born. Fast forward 10 years, and Dock & Bay has become a certified B Corp, with over 100 products in 8 categories, selling in the UK, Australia, the US, Canada, and Europe. Our mission is to make the world brighter, and we need your help (if you fit the job description, obviously). We are on the list of theUK’s Best Places to work in the Retail, Best Places to work for Development, Best Places to work for Women, AND officially a Sunday Times Best Places to work, so you KNOW we’re going to look after you. THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL Reporting into (and working closely with) the Head of Photo & Media, the Photographer and Content Producer will play a central, hands‑on role in producing, shooting and delivering Dock & Bay’s global photo and video content. As a small creative team of two, you’ll collaborate on everything from studio photography to large‑scale lifestyle campaigns, ensuring our colourful world is captured consistently and creatively across all key markets (UK, US, AU, CA and EU). Rather than taking full ownership, this role is about true partnership — planning shoots together, bouncing ideas, dividing responsibilities, and supporting one another to bring our visual vision to life. You’ll wear many hats and contribute to every step of the process: building briefs, coordinating production, directing on set, ironing towels (always lots of towels), styling, filming content, retouching imagery and editing video. This role is a hybrid remote position with no Australian office. You’ll be based on the beautiful Central Coast, working mostly from home, but jumping into shoots whenever the magic needs capturing in person plus the occasional collaboration day at a co working space or local café. We’re super open to flexible hours (school-friendly? Absolutely). However, on big campaign shoot days you’ll need to go all‑in for long, full days (around 2–3 per month), plus several smaller shoot days that will have more flexibility. You’ll also join regular evening calls with our UK team usually around 1–2 per week (they promise to bring good vibes). This is a mid‑level role where strong photography, retouching skills, and a creative eye are essential. A positive, can‑do attitude is just as important, and we can support and upskill you across most other areas. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Photograph Dock & Bay products in‑studio and on location lifestyle shoots Support and assist the head photographer during campaign photoshoots, including managing external crew Maintain gear, lighting setups, and studio efficiency Film, video and behind‑the‑scenes content across lifestyle and campaign shoots Build and organise Premiere Pro sessions, export video content Co‑manage the production of all in‑house and external shoots, including model casting and booking crew such as stylists, HMUA, and assistants Manage pre‑shoot logistics, including call sheets, permits, contracts, and schedules Manage on‑set logistics directing models, keeping to time, coordinating crew, organising catering, and solving problems as they arise Work with stylists or style products yourself, prep props and accessories ahead of shoot days (including ironing towels) Work collaboratively on post‑production, including importing and organising images, initial colour grades and selects, and creating storyboards Retouch studio, eCom, and campaign imagery using Adobe Photoshop, including coordinating external retouching or utilising AI Maintain organised file systems and reliable backups, ensuring all imagery is managed efficiently and uploaded accurately across required channels Collaborate with the design team to produce campaign assets that meet strategic objectives and brand guidelines Join regular UK team meetings in the evenings (2‑3 times a week) and communicate proactively across our global teams Maintain calendars, workflows and deadlines while keeping file systems tidy, managing tasks through Monday.com and adapting smoothly to shifting timelines or weather Bring fresh visual ideas and trend insights, share inspiration across teams, and continually upskill across gear, lighting, Adobe Suite and emerging tools like AI ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS 3‑6 years in photography, production, or creative content roles Good photography skills and technical experience shooting DSLR (non‑negotiable) Strong retouching skills and experience with Adobe Photoshop (non‑negotiable) Experience working in a photography studio, including setting up studio lighting Ability to manage multiple projects and pivot quickly A flexible, positive, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves attitude (no job is too small) Great communication and organisation Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively with a range of people, whether on shoots, creative projects, or cross‑team work Exceptional production‑management skills, with a proven ability to keep projects, workflows, and deadlines running smoothly from planning through to delivery A strong eye for aesthetics and a solid understanding of lifestyle brands, including how to visually communicate mood, story and brand identity Comfortable working independently from home, with the confidence to keep projects moving smoothly without needing close supervision BONUS EXPERIENCE Experience running or coordinating photoshoots Experience with DTC or lifestyle/sustainable brands Proficient in using Capture One and shooting tethered THE PERKS Joining Dock & Bay means joining a glorious global team of towel traders, with a shared mission to make the world brighter through colour and saving the planet.
