Vinnies shops Our Vinnies shops are a well-established and much-loved part of the Aussie retail landscape. Aside from being an op-shop mecca for fans of all things quality and thrift, the shops generate revenue for our broad range of services supporting the community. They may also be a first point of contact for people seeking emergency assistance. As a retail volunteer, you will play a central role in the operations of the shop, making a significant and valuable contribution to the St Vincent de Paul Society. The Volunteer Role The Retail Volunteer will perform a variety of tasks including: Providing customers with an excellent shopping experience; Sorting and pricing donations; Assisting with product display; Processing sales through the Point of Sale (POS) cash register; and Keeping the store and sorting area tidy, whilst maintaining safe work practices. Desired Volunteer Attributes The volunteers we are seeking will ideally: Be a people person welcoming, encouraging and positive; Be willing to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society; Be respectful of others and flexible in their attitude to work and the team; and Have good time management and use initiative to get the job done. No experience needed as in-store coaching and training is provided. We welcome those with previous retail or hospitality backgrounds to share their experience with their fellow volunteers in the shop.
