We are looking for a motivated and passionate Full Time Commis Chef to join the PLG team at Steeples in Mornington. You’ll focus on basic food preparation tasks, support experienced chefs, and maintain a clean and organised kitchen. This opportunity is ideal for kitchen professionals ready to kickstart their career Located on the Mornington Peninsula, Steeples is a dining and entertainment complex situated next to the Mornington Racecourse. Featuring modern facilities including a family friendly bistro, a designated kids play area and an alfresco deck; there are dining experiences for all to enjoy. Along with an extensive modern menu with daily specials, Steeples caters to both children and adults alike. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and cook menu as per cooking guidelines and set standards. Support senior chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks, including food assembly and plating. Ensure food and safety procedures are being followed. Maintain control and leadership in the kitchen during service times in allocated section. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workstation. The role you are applying for may be quite fast-paced and require you to complete tasks including but not limited to lifting boxes, kegs or stock, standing for long periods of time, and utilising stairs. Requirements: Hold a Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) Food Handlers Certificate. Experience working in a pub/bistro fast-paced environment. Understanding of fundamental cooking methods and recipe execution. Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Full working rights in Australia.
