Join to apply for the Senior Procurement Advisor - Projects role at Downer Senior Procurement Advisor, Projects - Energy & Utilities | Downer Group About the Role We are seeking a Senior Procurement Advisor, Projects to support the successful delivery of major infrastructure programs across transmission, substations, and large-scale capital works in the utilities sector. This role plays a critical part in shaping sourcing and contracting outcomes during bids, tenders, and project mobilisation phases. Reporting to the Sourcing & Contracting Director, you will develop sourcing strategies, execute complex procurement activities, and lead supplier and subcontractor engagement for high‑value, high‑risk packages – including long‑lead items and international supply. Your commercial acumen, stakeholder management capability and ability to operate confidently in complex project environments will directly influence project success and competitiveness. This role can be based in Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney. Key Accountabilities Support bids and tenders by identifying critical packages, developing sourcing strategies, and delivering rapid and commercially robust procurement inputs. Lead end‑to‑end sourcing and procurement for high‑value, complex and specialised items including long‑lead and international supply. Develop and issue tender packages, coordinate evaluations, negotiate departures and prepare award recommendations. Collaborate with regional procurement hubs, engineering, commercial and project teams to ensure seamless procurement delivery throughout the project lifecycle. Build strong supplier and subcontractor relationships, resolve performance issues, and integrate ESG and supplier diversity goals into sourcing plans. What We Are Looking For 7+ years' experience in capital project procurement within energy, infrastructure or resources (Tier 1 experience highly regarded). Proven ability to deliver procurement outcomes for high‑value, high‑complexity packages, including international supply and long‑lead items. Strong commercial judgement, negotiation capability and understanding of construction contract forms. Ability to engage, influence and guide cross‑functional teams, senior leaders, suppliers and subcontractors. Proactive, resourceful and confident communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to perform in high‑pressure environments.
