Under the long-term leadership of a highly regarded Chief Executive Officer, JKTech has achieved sustained domestic growth and international expansion, creating valuable commercial and research relationships and a Centre of Excellence in Chile. As the incumbent Chief Executive Officer steps down, the organisation has a robust balance sheet and is poised for its next exciting phase of growth and development. To ensure a smooth transition, the Board has mandated the search for a new Chief Executive Officer to lead JKTech forward.
The role
This unique CEO role will suit a proven senior mining industry executive with demonstrable experience growing technical service lines that aid the global mining industry. The ideal candidate will blend consulting and management experience and be able to demonstrate leadership of significant business growth. Equally important is understanding and being familiar with the commercialisation of research-driven innovation and transforming that innovation into value-adding solutions for clients.
Overarching responsibilities will include:Ensuring the ongoing sustainability and future relevance of the business;Aligning resourcing with operations, market demand and strategic intent;Leading the consulting and laboratory service lines; andAchieving organisational and shareholder returns.Functional responsibilities and deliverables will include:Developing with the Board, the sales, technical, commercial and innovation strategy and operating plan to ensure the long-term viability of the company and corresponding shareholder returns;Staying abreast of current trends related to the company’s products and services and anticipate future trends that are likely to have an impact;Encourage the building of strong relationships between JKTech staff and the staff of SMI, JKMRC, BRC and UQ more broadly;Maintain deep industry connections to promote JKTech group’s strategic agenda and the University’s and Sustainable Minerals Institutes’ resources capabilities, so that the broader resources activities of the University can thrive;Overseeing design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of products, consulting and technical services;Ensuring that the corporate culture and operating environment of the group is conducive to promoting a positive environment and is outcomes focussed; andWork with the Board to manage public relations requirements of the company, and in accordance with the media and public relations guidelines of JKTech and UQ.In order to be considered for the role, we are targeting the following experience, skills and attributes:Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in mineral processing; preferably with post graduate qualifications, either an MBA or PhD;Over 20 years’ experience in management or consulting at a senior level including significant experience in an operational capacity as well as experience / knowledge of administration, human resources, marketing and finance;Operational and strategic management experience including significant experience in managing complex projects and achieving project outcomes;Extensive networks across corporate and community sectors with a strong emphasis on the global resources industry; andExperience working with research departments to commercialise innovations and deliver profitable commercial solutions.Experience working in Latin America will be highly regarded.The role will be based in Brisbane with domestic and international travel required.
