About the team Our Dispute Resolution & Litigation practice in Melbourne is a dynamic group with a diverse range of interesting work. About the role We are seeking an intelligent and motivated disputes lawyer to work with a dedicated team of lawyers and paralegals on a critical and complex matter for the Commonwealth Government under the close guidance of Partner Howard Rapke. You will thrive in a team environment while also taking clear instructions and working on tasks independently. Responsibilities Lead and co‑manage the significant Commonwealth matter, ensuring clarity of strategy and delivery. Coordinate with a large cohort focused on this particular matter, maintaining communication and alignment. Provide strategic advice and support on broader team work, including property disputes, commercial conflicts, insolvency matters, regulatory investigations, and commercial crime prosecutions. Prepare and deliver high‑quality drafting, research, and analysis for litigation and investigative work. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, regulators, and government partners. Manage working workflows and deadlines under pressure, demonstrating organisational and prioritisation skills. About you You will be an engaged and driven lawyer with a genuine desire to continually improve and deliver outstanding results for your clients. You will have excellent communication and drafting skills, enjoy a busy work environment, and thrive in a collaborative culture. 1–5 years of post‑admission experience in a commercial litigation setting, ideally from a well‑regarded practice. Background in general commercial disputes with experience in investigations or government disputes as a bonus. Proven ability to organise and manage workflows under pressure. Experience engaging with a broad range of individuals, communicating effectively, and building trusted relationships. Excellent analytical, research, and drafting skills.
