Where you'll be working Royal North Shore Hospital is a principal tertiary referral hospital for Northern Sydney Local Health District providing a comprehensive range of complex services to patients from across NSW. It has a strong and proud history in education, research and provision of high‑quality clinical care. Royal North Shore Hospital provides specialty services including major trauma, severe burns, spinal cord injuries, neonatal intensive care, bone marrow transplantation, neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology alongside acute medical, surgical, mental health, paediatric, cancer and maternity services. The campus is also home to The Kolling – a medical research institute jointly governed with the University of Sydney. For more information What You'll Be Doing To provide effective clinical management of patients with Sexually Transmissible Infections, HIV, and other sexual health needs, including provision of screening and biomedical prevention strategies, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment. This includes the provision of professional advice and consultancy to outside agencies seeking information on STI/HIV infections. The Advanced Trainee's role includes participation in training programme, peer education, clinical audits and research. The Advanced Trainee is expected to adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management according to their experience, under the guidance of, and at the discretion of the attending Sexual Health Physician. This is a position recognised by the Australasia Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine (AChSHM, RACP) for training in sexual health medicine, and other Colleges (e.g RACP, RACGP, RACOG) by negotiation. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team in planning, delivery and coordination of patient care. High level communication skills, including the ability to convey and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non‑clinical audience Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management. Demonstrated high level independent clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and problem‑solve with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly. Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training. Demonstrated interest and commitment to further education and practice in Sexual Health Medicine Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy PD2024_015, which includes any amendments made from time to time.
