Fashion Design Assistant

Global Fashion House is an established and fast-growing women’s fashion wholesale company based in Surry Hills. An exciting opportunity exists to join our team as a Design Assistant. We are looking for a talented Design Assistant that will work closely with our Sales & Development Manager to develop product and manage orders/production for our retail customers. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with 1-2 years experience in the industry. You are detail orientated, flexible and have strong organisation and multitasking skills to work in a fast paced environment. Key Responsibilities Assist the Sales & Development Manager in the design process from concept through to production. Create garment sketches (CADs) with construction details. Re colour and amend print artwork for yardage and placement prints for off shore manufacturing Set up SKU/Order information on our company’s Indigo8 system Raise PO’s in the system Sourcing fabrics and trims. Preparing style packs for China office. Liaising with production team and China office on all aspects of product development. Working to a critical path timeline and ensuring on time delivery and quality standards are met Steam, hang and organise samples. Attend fit meetings where needed Quality control of garments to ensure they meet fitting and quality requirements Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification Knowledge of fabrications and garment construction. Advanced skills Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator - recolouring existing prints, CAD drawings and some graphic design. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of Microsoft office suite. A positive “can do” attitude & a great work ethic Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines and be self-managed Excellent time management skills, ability to manage a challenging workload and meet tight deadlines Excel & Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator knowledge is essential A love of all things fashion Global Fashion House is a friendly and creative team, who value talent and recognise hard work.
