Base pay range A$106,000.00 / yr – A$120,000.00 / yr As a Senior Planner – Biodiversity, you will: Serve as a trusted subject matter, initially focused on delivering a refreshed environmental offset governance and delivery framework. Assist delivery of a range of other biodiversity and environmental planning tasks, e.g. undertaking environmental assessments, responding to submissions and/or emerging priorities, providing guidance to support land‑use planning initiatives, etc. Provide expert advice on legislative, policy and business requirements to support informed decision‑making. Work collaboratively as part of the Biodiversity Planning team to deliver aligned biodiversity planning program outcomes, including guiding and supporting other team members where required. Build and maintain strong relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives and foster collaborative approaches. Act as a departmental delegate and advocate for biodiversity outcomes, influencing decisions and ensuring alignment with branch positions, Council’s strategic direction and compliance with legal obligations. What we’re looking for Considerable knowledge and experience with the Queensland environmental offsets framework. Knowledge and experience with other offset frameworks would also be desirable. Degree in environmental planning, biodiversity planning or a related discipline such as environmental management systems. Proven ability to deliver moderate‑to‑complex projects in time‑critical environments with competing stakeholder interests. Strong knowledge of federal, state and local legislation and environmental planning principles. Experience working within a government and political context. Excellent communication skills to simplify complex concepts and workflows and negotiate sustainable outcomes. High‑level stakeholder engagement and consultation experience. Collaborative and adaptable professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, evolving environment. Passionate about sustainability and biodiversity with a strategic mindset.
