About the team The Clinical Trials Pharmacy team at Peter Mac plays a vital role in supporting groundbreaking cancer research through the safe and effective management of clinical trial medicines. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the pharmacy team ensures trial protocols are followed, medications are accurately dispensed and tracked, and patient care remains at the centre of everything we do. With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and collaboration, the team contributes directly to advancing cancer treatment and improving outcomes. About the role As a Grade 3 Pharmacy Technician you will have the opportunity to develop specialty practice in the preparation and management of investigational medicines and clinical trial workflows. You’ll enjoy working in a busy, team-based environment to provide excellent patient care by supporting cancer clinical trials. In conjunction with other members of the clinical trials team, you will; Optimise dispensing and stock management processes Maintain accurate and comprehensive drug accountability records Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, regulations, policies, and quality standards. Position Summary To participate as an active member of the Clinical Trials Pharmacy team providing support in managing the day to day operations associated with the Clinical Trials Pharmacy service, under the supervision of the Senior Clinical Trials Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacist managers. Enterprise Agreement Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement Classification or Salary Range Grade 3 (TH10) Immunisation Risk Category Immunisation Category B Key Relationships External Pharmacy Staff Nursing Staff Support Staff Internal Industry sponsors and representatives Hospital pharmacy staff from other health services Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) Skills Essential Requirements Completion of Certificate IV in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician) course or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years' experience as a hospital pharmacy technician. Ability to receive competency training and become credentialed in clinical trials pharmacy technician practice. Ability to work as a member of the clinical trials pharmacy team and adhere to legislative requirements including Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP), NHMRC and AdPha requirements. Proven organisational and delegation skills. Advanced computer skills with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Proven attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work within a high pressure environment. Participation in weekend work and on-call Desirable Requirements Previous clinical trials experience. Ability to work effectively in inter-professional teams. Supports the competencies, codes, guidelines and policies as set out by pharmacy professional governing bodies. Certifications, Licenses & Registrations Key Accountabilities 1. Provision of technical support to Clinical Trials Pharmacy Conduct day to day technician-related operations within clinical trials pharmacy, under supervision of Senior Clinical Trials Pharmacy Technician. Following completion of credentialed training, to support manufacture and preparation of investigational products including aseptic and genetically modified organism (GMO) products. Perform stock management duties of all investigational drugs including ordering and processing shipments, storage and destruction or return to supplier, stock level audits, expiry date checking. Ensure accurate and comprehensive drug accountability records are maintained according to the provision of the study protocol and GCP. Manage temperature excursions for stored or in-transit investigational product as per protocol. Ensure all documentation is kept up to date and archived according procedure, following legal requirements for the retention of pharmaceutical and other records. Support maintenance of electronic drug accountability recording and tracking systems including nCOUP. Perform dispensing and manufacturing tasks in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with department policies and procedures. Record trial activity statistics and trials pharmacy service charges. Attend to clerical and administrative duties in a timely and professional manner. 2. Continuous Quality Improvement and Infection Control Follows established organisational and departmental procedures and guidelines according to the International Conference on Harmonisation for Good Clinical Practice. Comply with Pharmacy Board legislation, National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards and other relevant regulatory requirements. Preparing and amending clinical trials dispensing guides for review and endorsement. Maintain patient and trial confidentiality at all times. Actively participate in sustainable and continuous improvements processes within the Clinical Trials Pharmacy service to optimise operational efficiency. Assist in collating clinical trial quality assurance and workload statistics. Ensure mandatory competency and Professional Development reviews are completed. 3. Occupational Health & Safety Comply with Peter Mac policies to maintain a safe workplace. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures 100% of the time.
