This is an exciting opportunity to support families with young children to engage in the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY). HIPPY is a free, two‑year, home‑based early learning and parenting program that: empowers parents and carers to be their child's first teacher supports children to develop a lifelong love of learning offers employment to some HIPPY parents/carers through a Tutor role connects families to people, places and services in their local community The HIPPY Program in Midland is a First Nations focused site, prioritising the engagement and support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. The HIPPY Coordinator role will have responsibility for the day‑to‑day program implementation and management of HIPPY Tutors, in line with Koya’s policies, procedures and ways of working. The Coordinator will work 0.8FTE and be provided with comprehensive training in all aspects of HIPPY program management, and be part of the wider Koya team supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and children in the Midland region. Key Responsibilities of the Role Co‑ordinate the implementation of HIPPY Midland to ensure efficient and effective program delivery in line with organisational policies and ways of working Ensure the cultural responsiveness of program activities, resources and delivery Engage families to participate in the program and support their continuing involvement Identify possible barriers to family engagement, and develop strategies to remove barriers and engage families in the program, in ways that meet their needs Identify, recruit and train HIPPY Home Tutors for the program and support them on their career pathways Develop and maintain strong working relationships within the local community, including other early childhood service providers, Aboriginal organisations and services, local community organisations and local government Maintain appropriate and effective administrative systems, including regular reporting, and all HIPPY Australia required documentation Ensure Koya’s policies and procedures are followed including Child Safety and Wellbeing and Confidentiality policies Selection Criteria Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, as permitted under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) and be able to demonstrate: Qualifications in Education, Community Development, Community Services or equivalent qualifications or lived experience relevant to the coordination of education, child, youth family and community services Knowledge and understanding of the needs of Aboriginal families and experience in applying that knowledge to the delivery of culturally safe program activities Demonstrated empathy and sensitivity in working with vulnerable children and families from diverse backgrounds and circumstances Knowledge of and experience in education and learning settings, and the engagement of both adults and children in learning experiences Experience working with local communities and building local networks and relationships with service providers Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills, reliability, consistent attendance and punctuality, and the ability to work collaboratively with others Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate, comprehensive program records How to Apply To apply for this position, please submit: A cover letter addressing the selection criteria (maximum two pages) A current resume The names and contact details of two referees, one of which must be your current or most recent employer Applications Close Monday 15 December 2025 For further information, please contact Koya on ***, or email *****@koya.org.au #J-18808-Ljbffr
