This is a critical infrastructure role offering a rare level of stability: a secure 12-month contract with a strong view to long-term extension, situated within a team that values work-life balance and technical excellence. The Opportunity You will be joining a data services team responsible for sensitive, high-volume clinical and operational data. The core objective of this role is to bridge the gap between established on-premise systems and a growing Azure cloud environment. You won't just be maintaining pipelines; you will be ensuring that critical data reaches decision-makers accurately and on time. This is an ideal role for a technologist who appreciates the "hybrid" world—someone who respects the robustness of SSIS while driving value through modern Azure Cloud and Power BI solutions. Key Responsibilities End-to-End ETL Management: Take ownership of existing SSIS packages. You will troubleshoot, optimize, and extend these pipelines to ensure seamless data ingestion from various clinical systems. Azure Cloud Engineering: Design and implement scalable data solutions within the Azure ecosystem. You will work heavily with Azure SQL, Data Factory, and potentially Synapse to modernize data flows. Reporting & Visualisation: Maintain and upgrade legacy SSRS paginated reports that are vital for regulatory compliance. Design interactive, insight-driven dashboards using Power BI for executive and operational stakeholders. Data Governance: Champion data accuracy and integrity, ensuring all solutions adhere to strict privacy and compliance standards inherent in the health sector. Skills & Experience To be successful in this role, you must be a "hybrid" engineer capable of handling both legacy Microsoft stacks and modern cloud platforms: Essential: Cloud: Extensive commercial experience with Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, SQL DB, Storage). ETL: Deep expertise in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)—you must be comfortable managing complex existing packages. Reporting: Strong proficiency in SSRS for operational reporting and Power BI (DAX, Modelling) for analytics. Database: Advanced T-SQL scripting and performance tuning abilities. Desirable: Previous experience working with healthcare data sets (HL7, PAS, EMR data) is highly regarded. Experience in data migration projects moving from on-premise to cloud. Why join this team?
