Aid Delivery Volunteer (Driver or Companion) Mon-Fri Thomastown Deliver our precious aid packs to appreciative families one or more days a week (Monday to Friday during operation hours). Travelling from our Thomastown warehouse to homes and organisations where our aid is destined to go, you can be the one bringing joy to families in need around Melbourne's northern and western suburbs. The role Our van can be driven on a regular car licence; no special permit needed If you’d prefer not to drive but want to be involved in helping deliver essential material aid to children in need, you can join the delivery team as a driver’s companion, assisting with navigation. A typical day might look like: Driving in one of our vans to/from our warehouse in Thomastown Collecting donations from donors and drop‑off points Delivering donations to hospitals or community services Loading and unloading the van with your journey companion Delivering donations to the homes of our very appreciative recipients You will have the opportunity to: Be involved in a great community organisation that makes a difference to families in need Gain valuable work experience and a reference Make new friends who share your interest in making a difference Organisational background Big Group Hug is a volunteer‑driven, not‑for‑profit organisation that supports vulnerable and disadvantaged families in need, by providing new and pre‑loved goods to help these families care for their children, aged from newborn to 16‑year‑old. Our core belief is that all children deserve the best start in life, so for us, the child is the focus of everything we do. Our team is made up of over 300 individuals/volunteers who are determined and committed to assisting every family who asks for help. We receive requests for specific and essential items through Case Workers, Maternal and Child Health Nurses or other professionals in the community. We encourage people from CALD backgrounds to apply and become part of our great Big Group Hug community Category – Community Services Commitment – Regular – less than 6 months Type of work – Driving & Transportation Time required – One day per week or as needed on a roster basis (flexible hours: pick morning or afternoon shift). We are open Monday to Friday and the van is available for deliveries between 9 am and 4 pm. Training – Before commencing, you will receive an orientation session at one of our warehouses.
