Ruby on Rails Developer

Go Insurance is looking for a Ruby on Rails Developer who genuinely loves working with Rails — someone who cares about clean architecture, steady delivery, and solving real problems with elegant, well‑considered code. This is a hands‑on engineering role where strong technical judgment, accountability, and high‑quality code matter more than shortcuts. You’ll collaborate with our cross‑functional team, contribute to system improvements, and help shape how our applications evolve — but your primary focus will be delivering progress on well‑defined projects within our tech stack. You’ll work in a stable, well‑structured Rails environment where thoughtful engineering and steady, reliable delivery are valued over velocity for its own sake. In addition to contributing to our existing platform, you’ll also play a key role in new and upcoming projects across our tech stack. With support from our IT team, you’ll focus on delivering these initiatives to meet project milestones and help drive them through to completion. You won’t be doing this alone — you’ll have guidance and collaboration around architecture, best practices, and technical approaches whenever you need it. This role offers complete flexibility: work fully remote, hybrid, or from our Brendale office — whatever helps you do your best work. What You’ll Do Design and build features for our core Rails‑based policy generation platform Work autonomously on assigned engineering projects with clear weekly outcomes Select the tools, frameworks, and approaches best suited to each challenge Collaborate across the product lifecycle from planning to release Identify and propose performance, stability, and architectural improvements Contribute to a reliable, scalable, well‑tested tech environment Skills That Make You a Great Fit 3+ years of industry experience with Ruby on Rails Solid experience with relational databases Familiarity with Agile, CI/CD, unit testing, and DevOps principles Comfortable prioritising and working independently Strong problem‑solving skills and excellent attention to detail Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) Bonus Skills That Add Value CRM experience AWS: ECS, S3, RDS, EC2, Route53, CloudWatch, Aurora, IAM, WAF Docker and containerisation tools API design and development What You’ll Get from Us Monthly celebrations and quarterly team events GoTo Awards – our recognition program that celebrates awesome teammates Access to our Wellbeing Portal – help and support when you need it Branded Go gear so you can rep your team with pride A culture of respect, teamwork and inclusion Flexibility to work remotely, hybrid, or from our Brendale office — your choice Not 100% sure you tick every box?
