About The Opportunity Come work with us as a Diesel Mechanic and play a vital role in maintaining Council's modern and diverse fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment. You will Carry out servicing, repairs, and diagnostics on a wide range of fleet vehicles, plant, and machinery (diesel and petrol). Participate in the on-call roster and undertake overtime when required. Use Council’s fleet maintenance system to accurately record work and service data. Ensure a high level of training and supervision of all apprentices within this role, contributing to the development of future tradespeople. Uphold high standards of workmanship, safety, and efficiency in both workshop and field environments. Key Selection Criteria Trade qualification in mechanical engineering with experience in diesel and petrol engines. Demonstrated Post-trade experience in a mixed fleet environment. Strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with sound knowledge of relevant tools and equipment. Experience with workshop / fleet maintenance systems and record-keeping. Class C Drivers Licence (HR Licence and forklift ticket highly desirable). Dual trade in diesel mechanic / auto electrical highly regarded.
