As a Senior Power Systems Engineer at Arup, you’ll play a critical role in shaping sustainable energy solutions by delivering technical expertise across power system studies, network modelling, and renewable integration. This position involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design substations, optimise grid performance, and advise clients on innovative solutions for solar, wind, and battery storage projects. This role combines advanced technical skills with client engagement, ensuring resilient, efficient, and future‑ready power systems. The Opportunity Perform steady‑state and dynamic analyses, including load flow, fault level, and stability assessments using industry‑standard software. Prepare Generator Performance Standards, assist with compliance documentation, and liaise with network service providers and regulators. Contribute to substation layouts, protection schemes, and network planning to ensure safe and efficient operation. Provide technical input for solar, wind, and battery projects, ensuring seamless integration into existing networks. Prepare high‑quality documentation, present findings, and engage with clients and stakeholders to deliver innovative, compliant solutions. Expertise in steady‑state and dynamic analysis, load flow studies, fault level calculations, and grid modelling using tools such as PSS®E, PSCAD, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory. Ability to prepare Generator Performance Standards, support connection agreements, and assess compliance for solar, wind, and battery storage projects within regulated markets. Familiarity with substation design, protection coordination, and system reliability requirements to ensure safe and efficient operation of electrical networks. Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and market rules (e.g., National Electricity Market requirements) to deliver compliant and future‑ready solutions. Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality technical advice and reports.
