A$120,000-A$150,000 p/a + Super On-site Posted 5 days ago Intermediate - Senior Mechanical Engineer Major D&C Projects | $120k-$150k + Super | Commercial, Healthcare & Defense The Opportunity An established mechanical contractor is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its in-house engineering team, working alongside four experienced engineers delivering complex Design & Construct projects across the commercial, healthcare and defence sectors. This is a hands‑on, technically focused role offering genuine influence across the full project lifecycle — from tender and design development through to construction, commissioning and handover. You will play a key role in shaping buildable, cost‑effective solutions while working closely with project teams, builders and consultants. Your Role & Responsibilities Load calculations (Camel) Water and air schematics Static pressure calculations and fan selection Head pressure calculations and pump selection Ductwork and pipework sizing and layouts Reviewing and QA’ing shop drawings to ensure construction readiness and compliance Providing practical engineering solutions to resolve design and construction issues Liaising closely with builders and consultants to achieve commercially and technically sound outcomes Reviewing tender documentation and identifying incomplete or high‑risk items to mitigate tender exposure Preparing detailed mechanical calculations and designs, including: Producing AC, equipment and electrical schedules, as well as Fire Matrix documentation Attending weekly site and project meetings, coordinating with architects and other trades Supporting resolution of issues across design, construction, testing and commissioning stages About You This role would suit a Senior Mechanical Engineer who enjoys being close to delivery and seeing their designs built on site. 5+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering within a mechanical contractor environment Strong exposure to D&C project delivery Sound knowledge of Australian standards and construction practices The ability to communicate clearly with site teams, builders and consultants A practical, solutions‑driven mindset with strong commercial awareness Engineers from a consultancy background are also encouraged to apply, particularly those who are commercially minded and keen to transition into the mechanical contracting space.
