Electorate Officer and Social Media Co-ordinator - Stephanie Di Pasqua MP Full time (35 hours per week) for up to 6 months, with the view to ongoing employment. $83,591 to $95,076 per annum (depending on skills and experience), including an all-incidence allowance of $7,863 per annum, employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading. Based in Five Dock with occasional trips to NSW parliament. Living in the Drummoyne electorate is preferred. This position is not suitable for remote work. About us The Drummoyne Electorate Office is the point of contact for constituents and local community groups to engage with the Member for Drummoyne regarding state government services and responsibilities. The office is open 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday. About the position Electorate officers are the initial point of contact for all constituent enquiries. The role involves administrative and secretarial functions to support the Member and ensure the efficient operation of the electorate office. The applicant needs excellent communication and writing skills and will be required to draft speeches, letters and correspondence, respond to various stakeholders and constituents, and make representations to Ministers. In addition, the applicant will be responsible for strategic social media content including using Canva and other tools to create engaging political and community content. They will also need to manage relationships with local community groups. Role responsibilities include: Managing constituent inquiries and solving problems. Liaising with police, council and other government relations persons to resolve constituent issues. Logging all contacts, correspondence and claims correctly in the office database. Taking responsibility for relationship management of key local resident groups and community groups, including informing them of grants and policy information. Responsibility for all graphic design elements e.g. social media posts, invitations using templates in Canva and briefing designers as required. Creating social media content across X, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok and monitoring local Facebook groups. Ability to upload content to website. Ability to write short speeches and briefing notes. Assisting with events held by the member (local and parliament). Attendance at events in the community with or on behalf of the member. The applicant should have exemplary interpersonal skills and customer service, which are vital for dealing with members of the public who are seeking assistance as well as proficiency in Word, Excel, Canva and all social media platforms. The workload of an electorate office requires the applicant to be able to work under pressure, multitask and deliver work to a very high, best practice standard. The applicant requires a ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to undertake a wide variety of jobs, learning new skills if required. The role requires some after hours and weekend work for which an annual All Incidence of Employment Allowance is paid. Local and political knowledge is desirable, as well as previous experience in a State/Federal electorate office. Demonstrated superior organisational skills to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities and deadlines. Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgement, ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues, while performing at a high standard under limited supervision and within a team environment. Excellent writing skills including the ability to prepare correspondence, briefing notes and, if required, submissions, speeches and newsletters. Canva and social media proficiency. Ability to manage events, forums, and community engagement activities if required. Good word processing/keyboard/database and computer skills in an office environment. An interest in, and understanding of, the NSW political context and Australian parliamentary procedures and processes. Ability to self-manage and get things done no matter what, taking full responsibility for jobs and delivering. Electronic attachments must be MS Word compatible or in pdf format.
