Electrical & Instrumentation Apprenticeship The Role: The apprenticeship opportunity will provide you with world class safety practices, training, mentoring, industry leading skills and an opportunity for variety and exposure to many aspects of the gas and oil industry. This Electrical Apprenticeship would be well suited to recent Year 12 school leavers, those who have completed a pre-apprenticeship and/or entry-level candidates. You will be responsible for a range of duties which will include: HV and LV electrical systems Distributed Control Systems (DCS) PLC shutdown systems Pipeline and metering systems Control loops Process analyses Instruments, instrument systems Electric motors Control systems Light and Power Participate in risk assessments as part of the safety standards Measure and record information relating to physical and chemical events within systems and their components Continue to develop knowledge regarding new electronic technologies. Benefits and Additional Information: While you are based at ESSO, both ESSO and WPC Group will provide you with a dedicated workplace mentor to support and guide you throughout your apprenticeship. WPC Group’s mentors will also conduct regular workplace visits. TAFE training will take place to ensure you are developing and learning the skills required, while also providing someone available whenever you have questions, challenges or need further support. WPC Group will coordinate the TAFE study component of your apprenticeship. In addition, you will receive initial and ongoing internal training to ensure that your skills and knowledge are in line with the company’s expectations and industry-leading standards. You will earn an award wage as you learn your trade and become a qualified tradesperson. All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is supplied throughout your apprenticeship tenure. As part of the recruitment process, short‑listed candidates will be required to undertake several processes, and an offer of employment is subject to the satisfactory completion of: National Security Clearance Psychometric Testing Medical Clearing National Police Check Attributes: Strong work ethic High level of math, reasoning and analytical skills Punctual, efficient, honest and reliable True passion or previous exposure to the Electrical trade Physically fit to meet the demands of the role Good hand-eye coordination Normal colour vision Excellent communication skills Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions Proven ability to work in a safe manner Non-essential: Pre-Apprenticeship in Electrical, Instrumentation and Control (or a similar field) Employment experience (ideally practical) Previous hand tool experience / exposure is preferred Benefits: Opportunity to work with industry-leading safety practices and technologies.
