At APA, our purpose is simple: to strengthen communities through responsible energy.We have an exciting opportunity available for a Principal Civil Engineer - Power to join our team in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne on a full-time/permanent basis.You will work on hybrid power generation projects that include solar, wind, BESS and firming GPG. Our involvement starts as early as the prospecting stage, flows through ideation (where we determine the optimal combination of the technologies to match demand and available resources), concept design, and delivery. Our team is made up of subject matter experts and generalists with sufficient depth to deliver the majority of development activities using internal resources.Reporting to the Head of Engineering Development, you will be leading in the design, development, and maintenance of the APA's power infrastructure that will facilitate the transition to NetZero. You will apply principles of geotechnical, civil and structural engineering to ensure the safety, durability, and efficiency of our power generation infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop power infrastructure projects (including solar, wind, BESS and firming GPG) using geotechnical/civil/structural engineering principlesReview geotechnical reports and associated data to advice on the best design principles to apply in the development of power generation assetsOversee the design of civil works including bulk earth works, roads, hardstands and benches upon which power generation and transmission assets will be constructed.Conduct structural analyses and inspections to ensure the safety and durability of structures and assetsCollaborate with internal teams and external consultants and contractors to execute engineering plansMonitor the execution of engineering projects and adjust plans as necessaryEnsure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during engineering activitiesYour backgroundTertiary qualification in Geotechnical, Civil or Structural Engineering admitting to corporate membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia or equivalent experience (Mandatory)Extensive experience with geotechnical, civil and structural engineering principles within the energy or relevant industryKnowledge of relevant Australian codes and statutory requirementsAbout the TeamThe Infrastructure Engineering - Power team forms part of the Infrastructure Delivery division in APA, responsible for development and delivery of growth power projects across Australia.With a strong pipeline of power projects, both on-grid and off-grid, the recently established Infrastructure Engineering - Power team is experiencing rapid growth. We are actively seeking new talent to complement our existing cadre of multi-disciplinary engineers.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Australia's energy transition by supporting development and delivery of power generation projects, utilising wind, solar, battery and firming gas technologies.Working at APA
