QHSE Advisor

About the role We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced QHSE Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will champion Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards across a diverse range of civil and commercial construction projects. You will work closely with site and project teams to ensure all works are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with Newlands’ commitment to a strong safety culture. Responsibilities Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and task observations. Develop, review and support Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and other project documentation. Provide support to project teams using the HammerTech safety system. Manage internal audits and assist with third-party accreditation audits. Lead toolbox talks and facilitate safety-related discussions. Drive safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities. Deliver safety training and support competency development. Conduct incident investigations (ICAM/Taproot) and oversee corrective actions. Complete risk assessments and promote proactive safety management. Qualifications You will bring a practical, solutions-focused approach to safety and a strong ability to engage and support project teams. The ideal candidate will have: Commercial and/or Civil construction experience. Minimum 2–3 years experience in a QHSE role or a strong trade background. Certificate IV in OHS/WHS. Experience conducting ICAM or Taproot investigations. Desirable: Internal auditing experience. Desirable: Trainer and Assessor qualifications (TAE). Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
