Field Service Technician - Electrical Power Generation Overview Field Service Technician - Electrical Power Generation. This role involves diagnosing and repairing basic to advanced electrical power generation equipment in the field, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring customer satisfaction while adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies. Responsibilities Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete basic repairs, including preparing required parts and tools. Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor. Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field. Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims via handwritten forms or business system input screens. Completes training in line with skill and business requirements. Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation. Train electrical apprentices in and out of the branch. Coordinate jobs and responsibilities within the branch and delegate workload. Understand relevant electrical certification required in country. Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation. Complete in workshop repairs as required. Engages with customer in a courteous and professional manner. Ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs. To be successful in this role you will need the following Apprentice Trained Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (or equivalent). Diploma/Certificate from relevant technical institution. Current relevant electrical certification / tickets. Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products. High Voltage / Low Voltage Experience preferred. Qualifications Critical Competencies: Health and Safety Fundamentals – Proactive health and safety behaviors to contribute to an injury-free workplace. Diagnostics Application – Troubleshooting based on customer complaints, guided workflows, and use of mechanical/electronic tools; documents results for payment and history. Electronic Service Tool Application – Uses appropriate tools to maintain or diagnose products and determines next steps. Power Generation Systems Knowledge – Understands Cummins and industry standards; analyzes system operation and applies measurements for diagnosis and repair. Product Repair and Maintenance – Repairs and maintains mechanical/electrical products following guidelines; inspects and replaces parts to minimize cost of ownership. Service Documentation – Creates and verifies customer, equipment and technical information; records data in service management system. Technical Escalation – Gathers issue information and elevates to higher expertise as needed; documents troubleshooting steps for timely resolution.
