Geriatrician / General Medicine Specialist - Tertiary

Location Situated on the edge of a harbour bigger than Sydney's, this is a beautiful, fascinating tropical city, a melting pot of people and cultures that prides itself on its unique and friendly laid‑back lifestyle. Overview It is the home of NT commerce and business and with its world‑class natural and cultural attractions it is also a thriving hub of activity in terms of tourism, nightlife, and retail. Hospital This is a Tertiary and level 3 Teaching Hospital with just under 400 beds. The hospital services a population of 200,000+ in a catchment area including urban communities, regional hospitals and remote communities. The hospital is affiliated with Flinders University with an onsite Medical School. Position Strong leadership skills are essential for managing a large team of junior staff in high‑demands clinical units. The role requires a thorough understanding of complex discharge planning and a proactive approach to engaging ambulatory care services to support timely and effective patient discharges. Cultural competence and a commitment to working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams are vital, particularly in engaging with patients from the diverse multicultural communities of the Top End of the Northern Territory. This position is offered as a combined part‑time Geriatric Medicine and part‑time General Medicine role, up to a total of 1.0 FTE, and is ideally suited to a dual‑trained Geriatrician and General Physician. Requirements FRACP RACP Advanced Trainees within 6 months of fellowship. IMGs assessed by RACP as Substantially Comparable / interview date confirmed.
